Plates are in!

Not much to update everyone on. I spent a couple hours scrubbing the interior of the Hoopty. A green scrubbie and a bottle or two of simple green and 20 years of crayons and dirty handprints came off. The inside actually smells somewhat normal and when you take a ride and get out, you don't feel like you need a shower.

The license plates arrived and are now proudly displayed. All of the obvious choices were already taken so we had to be tad creative.

Currently the Hoopty is at the shop trying to pass inspection. The first go 'round resulted in a big fat failure. The goofy fold up theatre seat is loose, the driver side view mirror is too flimsy with one of its mounts pulling out of the door, and in the state of VA you can't just paint over those groovy warning lights up top. You have to have them completely removed and blanked off. I'll get the estimate tomorrow. We may need to make a few temporary repairs just to get us past the inspection. I really need to find some replacement mirror assemblies (both the door mirrors and the fender mount blind spot mirrors).

Everything has to be ready by Thursday of this week (11/3/05) because the Hokie Hoopty will be making its inaugural tailgating appearance. The big VT - Miami game will be a night game on saturday and we plan on tailgating all day long with the Hoopty. So any of you Hokies out there, come to Lot 8, check out the Hoopty, and leave us a donation.

The next update will come after the Miami game and will include tailgating pictures as well as some potentially big and exciting news about the possibility of the Hoopty becoming a celebrity - hopefully more on this later.
